Description
Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted rugs in that they are woven by hand and do not have a raised wool pile. This gives them a flatter and rougher texture, which is generally less expensive to produce. Due to their lightness, kilims can be used flexibly on both sides. Originally developed in Persia, they are now also increasingly produced in Afghanistan. Kilim rugs are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created by the special weaving technique. These characteristics make them both practical and aesthetically appealing for a variety of rooms and styles.
