Description
Kilim rugs differ fundamentally from hand-knotted rugs in that they are woven by hand and do not have a high wool pile, which makes them flatter and rougher. This results in lower production costs. They are lighter and can be used on both sides, which increases their flexibility. Originally from Persia, kilims are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. Their patterns are typically simple and straightforward, due to their special weaving technique.
