Description
Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted rugs in their hand-weaving technique. They do not have a high wool pile and are generally flatter and rougher, which makes them cheaper to produce. Due to their lower weight, they are easier to handle and can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, kilims are now also increasingly produced in Afghanistan. They are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created by the weaving technique.
