Kilim rugs are hand-woven textiles that differ from hand-knotted rugs in their flatter and rougher structure. Without a high wool pile, they are less expensive to manufacture. Another advantage is their lower weight and the possibility of using them on both sides. These rugs originated in ancient Persia and are still produced in Afghanistan today.
