Description
Kilim rugs differ fundamentally from hand-knotted rugs in their hand-weaving technique, which does not produce a high wool pile and makes them flatter and rougher. This usually makes them cheaper to produce. An additional advantage is their lower weight and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, kilims are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. Their characteristic, simple, linear patterns are the result of the weaving technique.
