Description
Kilim rugs differ from hand-knotted rugs in their hand-weaving technique, which results in a flatter, rougher appearance without a high wool pile. Their production is less complex and therefore less expensive. One advantage is their lightness and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, kilims are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. They are characterised by simple, linear patterns created by their special weaving technique.
