Description
Kilim rugs differ from hand-knotted rugs in their hand-weaving technique, which means they do not have a high pile of wool and are often flatter and rougher. This usually makes them cheaper to produce. Another advantage is their lower weight and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from ancient Persia, kilims are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. They are characterised by simple, linear patterns created by their special weaving technique.
