Description
Kilim rugs differ fundamentally from hand-knotted variants in that they are hand-woven, which does not produce a high wool pile and often makes them flatter and rougher. This results in more cost-effective production. Their lightness allows them to be used flexibly on both sides. Originally from ancient Persia, they are now also widespread in Afghanistan. They are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created by the special weaving technique.
