Description
Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted rugs as they are woven by hand. They do not have a high wool pile and are therefore often flatter and rougher. This type of production is less labour-intensive, which makes them more cost-effective. Another advantage is their lower weight and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, kilims are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. They are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created by the special weaving technique.
