Description
Kilim rugs differ from hand-knotted rugs in that they are hand-woven without a thick wool pile, which makes them flatter and rougher. This less complex manufacturing process allows for lower prices. They are also lighter and can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now often produced in India. They are characterised by their simple, straightforward patterns, which are determined by the weaving technique.
