Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted rugs in that they are hand-woven without a thick wool pile, making them flatter and rougher. This makes them less expensive and lighter, and they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also manufactured in India. Their patterns are simple and straightforward, due to their special weaving technique.
