Description
Kilim rugs differ from hand-knotted rugs in their hand-weaving technique. They do not have a high wool pile and are therefore flatter and rougher. This usually makes them less expensive. Another advantage is their lower weight and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, kilims are now also widely produced in India. Their simple, linear patterns are the result of their special weaving technique.
