Description
Kilim rugs differ fundamentally from hand-knotted rugs in that they are woven by hand and do not have a high wool pile. They are flatter and rougher, which makes them cheaper to produce. Due to their lightness and the fact that they can be used on both sides, kilim rugs are practical and require less washing and care over many years. Originally from Persia, they are also manufactured in India and are characterised by simple, linear patterns created by their special weaving technique.
