Description
Unlike hand-knotted carpets, kilim carpets are woven by hand, which makes them flatter and rougher, without a high wool pile. This makes them more affordable and lighter, as they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are also frequently produced in Afghanistan. Their simple, linear patterns are created by a special weaving technique. Kelim rugs are known for being easy to manufacture compared to knotted rugs, yet they offer a robust and decorative option for flooring.
