Description
Unlike hand-knotted carpets, kilim carpets are woven by hand and do not have a high wool pile, making them flatter and rougher. Their production is less complex and therefore less expensive. They are also lighter and can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. Kelim rugs are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created by the weaving technique.
