This method of manufacture allows for more cost-effective production compared to complex knotting techniques. Kilim rugs are lighter and can be used on both sides, which increases their versatility. Originally from Persia, they are now mainly produced in Afghanistan. Their designs are usually simple and linear, which is due to the weaving technique.
