Description
Kilim rugs differ fundamentally from hand-knotted rugs in their hand-weaving technique, which does not produce a raised wool pile, making them flatter and rougher. This simplified production process generally makes them more affordable. Another advantage is their lightness and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, kilims are now also produced in Afghanistan. Their typical, simple patterns are linear and are created by the special weaving technique.
