Description
Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted rugs in that they are woven by hand and do not have a raised wool pile. This often makes them flatter and rougher, which reduces their production costs. An additional advantage is their lower weight and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. Kelims are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are determined by the weaving technique.
