Description
Kilim rugs are characterised by their hand-woven design, in contrast to the hand-knotted varieties. They are flatter and less soft as they do not have a high wool pile. This makes them more affordable and robust. One advantage is that they are easy to handle and can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, kilims are now also produced in Afghanistan. Their simple, linear patterns are characteristic of their weaving technique.
