Description
Unlike hand-knotted carpets, kilim carpets are woven by hand without a high wool pile, which makes them flatter and rougher and reduces production costs. Due to their lightness, they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also produced in Afghanistan. They are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created by the weaving technique. These rugs are not only a cultural tradition, but also a testament to the craftsmanship of their makers.
