Description
Kilim rugs differ fundamentally from hand-knotted rugs in their hand-weaving technique, which does not produce a high wool pile and makes them flatter and rougher. This simple production method significantly reduces costs. They are lighter and can be used on both sides, which simplifies care and minimises washing problems. Originally from Persia, they are now also common in Afghanistan and are characterised by simple, straightforward patterns resulting from their weaving technique.
