Description
Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted rugs in that they are woven by hand and do not have a high wool pile. This makes them flatter and rougher in texture and generally less expensive. Their lightweight nature allows them to be used on both sides. Originally from ancient Persia, they are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. Kelim rugs are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created using a special weaving technique.
