Description
Kilim rugs, which are hand-woven as opposed to hand-knotted, are characterised by their flat, rough texture without a high wool pile, which makes them more affordable. Their production is less complex, resulting in a lighter weight and allowing them to be used on both sides. Originally from ancient Persia, they are now also widely available in Afghanistan. Kelim rugs are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created using a special weaving technique.
