Description
Kilim rugs are characterised by their hand-woven design, in contrast to hand-knotted rugs with their raised wool pile. This makes kilims often flatter and rougher, which makes them more cost-effective. They are lighter and versatile, as they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also frequently produced in Afghanistan. Kelim rugs are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are determined by the weaving technique.
