Description
Unlike hand-knotted carpets, kilim carpets are woven by hand, which means they do not have a high wool pile and are often flatter and rougher. This simpler manufacturing method generally makes them more affordable. Another advantage is their lower weight and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also manufactured in Afghanistan. Kelims are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are the result of the special weaving technique used and give them a unique charm.
