Description
Kilim rugs, unlike hand-knotted varieties, are woven by hand and do not have a high wool pile, which makes them flatter and rougher. They are less labour-intensive to produce, which often makes them more affordable. They are also lighter and can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also widely produced in India. Their designs are simple and straightforward, influenced by the special weaving technique.
