Description
Kilim rugs differ from hand-knotted varieties in that they are hand-woven without a thick wool pile, making them flatter and rougher. This results in lower production costs and a lighter texture, which allows them to be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also produced in Afghanistan. Kelim rugs are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created by the special weaving technique. This makes them not only culturally unique, but also versatile for use in a variety of interior styles.
