Description
Unlike hand-knotted carpets, kilim carpets are woven by hand and do not have a high wool pile, which makes them flatter and rougher. Their production is less complex and therefore less expensive. They are lighter and more versatile as they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also produced in India. Their patterns are usually simple and straightforward, due to the special weaving technique.
