Description
Kilim rugs differ from hand-knotted rugs in that they are hand-woven without a thick wool pile, which makes them flatter and rougher. This allows for more cost-effective production. They are lighter and can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also manufactured in Afghanistan. They are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are determined by the weaving technique.
