Description
Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted rugs as they are woven by hand and do not have a high wool pile. They are generally flatter and rougher, which explains their lower cost of production. Due to their lower weight, they are easier to handle and can be used on both sides. Originally from former Persia, kilim rugs are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. They are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created by the special weaving technique.
