Description
Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted varieties as they are woven by hand. As a result, they lack the typical high wool pile and are often flatter and rougher to the touch. Their production is less complex, which makes them more cost-effective. One advantage is their lightness and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, kilims are now also frequently produced in Afghanistan. They are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created by the weaving technique.
