Description
Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted rugs in their hand-weaving technique, which results in a flatter, rougher material without a high wool pile. This makes them less expensive to produce and lighter in weight, allowing them to be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, kilims are now also frequently produced in Afghanistan. Their characteristic, linear patterns are created by a special weaving technique that gives them a simple appearance. Kilim rugs are not only cultural symbols, but also practical and aesthetic additions to modern living spaces, combining their traditional craft origins with contemporary design.
