Description
Kilim rugs differ fundamentally from hand-knotted varieties in that they are hand-woven, which means they do not have a raised wool pile and are flatter and rougher. This less complex manufacturing process results in a more affordable product. In addition, kilims are lighter and more versatile, as they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also produced in Afghanistan. Their characteristic, linear patterns result from the special weaving technique. Kilims are known for their simple aesthetics and their versatility in both traditional and modern interiors.
