Description
Kilim rugs differ from hand-knotted rugs in that they are hand-woven without a thick wool pile, making them flatter and rougher. This makes them less expensive and lighter, and they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also produced in Afghanistan. They are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created by the weaving technique. The focus is on simpler manufacturing processes compared to more complex knotting techniques.
