Description
Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted rugs in that they are woven by hand without a high wool pile, which makes them flatter and rougher and reduces production costs. Their lightweight nature allows them to be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. Kelim rugs are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created using a special weaving technique. These rugs are not only practical, but also culturally significant, as they reflect traditional craftsmanship and regional designs.
