Description
Kilim carpets differ fundamentally from hand-knotted varieties in that they are woven by hand and do not have a high wool pile. This makes them flatter and more robust, and often less expensive. Another advantage is their low weight and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, kilims are now mainly produced in India. They are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created by a special weaving technique.
