Description
Gabbeh rugs from Iran and India are known for their rustic style. The name “Gabbeh” means “raw” in Farsi and characterises their simplicity. Having become more popular since the early 1990s, they offer a more relaxed alternative to traditional Persian rugs, which are associated with formal interior design. Gabbehs have a thick pile, come in a variety of colours and often feature cool geometric or animal motifs, abstract or representational. Usually made of wool on wool, they range in size from small mats to large rugs and fit into any room in the house.
