Gabbeh rugs are hand-knotted in Iran and India. "Gabbeh" means "raw" in Farsi and describes a simple, rustic style. Popular since the 1990s as a relaxed alternative to formal Persian rugs, they have thick pile, many colours and feature cool geometric or animal motifs, abstract or representational. Mostly made of wool, they range from small mats to large rugs and fit into any room. Gabbehs offer a luxurious texture and are a choice for relaxed interiors away from traditional forms.
