Description
Gabbeh rugs are traditionally hand-knotted in Iran and India. The term “Gabbeh” means “raw” in Farsi and describes their simple, rustic style. Since the early 1990s, they have enjoyed growing popularity as a more relaxed alternative to traditional Persian rugs, which are often associated with formal interior design. Gabbehs have a thick, luxurious pile, come in a variety of colours and feature cool geometric or animal motifs, either abstract or representational. Usually made of wool on wool, they vary in size from small mats to large rugs and are suitable for any room in the house.
