Loom Lori carpets, known as Gabbeh, are hand-woven in India on wide looms. The name "Gabbeh" means "raw" in Farsi and refers to a simple, rustic carpet. Since the 1990s, they have enjoyed increasing popularity as a relaxed, folksy alternative to traditional Persian carpets. Gabbeh rugs are characterised by a thick, luxurious pile, diverse colouring and bold geometric patterns, often abstract or figurative with animals or people. Usually made of wool, they can also contain cotton or other materials.
