Description

Antique Sarough carpets are knotted in the cities of Kashan and Sarough. During the Safavid era, Kashan was a leading centre for carpet production, renowned for its world-class carpets. The city is located in the province of Isfahan in central Iran at an altitude of 1,590 metres in the foothills of the Karkas Mountains. Kashan is one of the oldest cities in the Orient, with a history dating back to the early Bronze Age.
