Gabbeh, Persian for "raw", are simple, rustic rugs that have been popular since the 1990s as a relaxed alternative to traditional Persian rugs. They are characterised by thick, luxurious pile, diverse colours and cool geometric and animal motifs. The patterns are abstract or representational, often featuring animals or people. Gabbeh rugs are usually made of wool, come in various sizes from small mats to large rugs, and fit well in any room of the house.
