Description
Gabbeh rugs from Iran and India are traditionally knotted and represent a simple, rustic style, which is what the name “Gabbeh” means in Farsi. Since the early 1990s, they have been gaining popularity as a more relaxed alternative to traditional Persian rugs, which are often associated with formal interior design. Gabbehs are characterised by a thick, luxurious pile, diverse colours and cool, geometric and animal motifs. The patterns can be abstract or representational and often depict animals or people. They are usually made of wool on wool and vary in size from small mats to large rugs, suitable for any room in the house.
