Gabbeh rugs are hand-knotted rugs from Iran and India, whose name means "raw" in Farsi, characterised by a simple, rustic style. Since the early 1990s, they have been popular as a more relaxed alternative to traditional Persian rugs, which are often associated with formal interior design. Gabbehs are characterised by a thick, luxurious pile, a variety of colours, and cool geometric and animal motifs, either abstract or representational. Made of wool on wool, they vary in size from small mats to large rugs and fit into any room in the house.
