Gabbeh rugs, from Iran and India, are known for their simplicity and rusticity. The name "Gabbeh" means "raw" in Farsi and describes their simple style. Since the early 1990s, they have been popular as a relaxed alternative to traditional Persian rugs, which are often associated with formal interior design. Gabbehs have a thick, luxurious pile, diverse colours and feature cool geometric and animal motifs, often abstract or representational. Made from wool on wool, they vary in size from small mats to large rugs and are suitable for any room in the house.
