Description
Gabbeh rugs, hand-knotted in Iran and India, mean “raw” in Farsi. A relaxed alternative to formal Persian rugs since the 1990s, they are thick-pile and luxurious, featuring many colours and cool geometric or animal motifs, abstract or representational. Mostly made of wool on wool, they vary in size from small mats to large rugs and fit into any room. Gabbehs offer a simple, rustic style that creates a relaxed atmosphere, in contrast to traditional rugs, which are often associated with formal interior design.
