Gabbeh means "raw" in Farsi and describes rustic carpets. Since the early 1990s, they have been gaining popularity as a relaxed alternative to traditional Persian carpets. Gabbehs have a thick pile, diverse colours and bold geometric patterns, sometimes with abstract or figurative motifs such as animals or people. Mostly made of wool, there are also variants made of cotton or other materials. Their size varies from small mats to large carpets, suitable for any room in the house.
