Gabbeh, Persian for "raw", are simple, rustic rugs that have been increasingly popular since the 1990s as a relaxed alternative to traditional Persian rugs. They offer thick, luxurious pile, diverse colours, cool geometric and animal motifs. Patterns are abstract or representational, with frequent depictions of animals or people. Mostly made of wool, they vary in size from small mats to large rugs and are suitable for any room in the house.
