Gabbeh, which means "raw" in Farsi, are rustic rugs that have been growing in popularity since the early 1990s. They offer a more relaxed, folk-inspired alternative to traditional Persian rugs. Gabbeh rugs are characterised by thick, luxurious pile, diverse colours and bold geometric patterns, often with abstract or figurative designs of animals or people. Mostly made of wool, they are also available in cotton or other materials, in sizes ranging from small mats to large rugs suitable for any room in the home.
