Gabbeh, Farsi for "raw", are rustic rugs that have been popular since the 1990s as a relaxed alternative to traditional Persian rugs. They feature thick pile, a variety of colours and bold patterns, often with abstract or figurative designs such as animals. Mostly made of wool, some of cotton or other materials, they range from small mats to large carpets and fit into any room in the house.
